The first thing about giving is that it is not to be a burden. The Bible says it is to be understood as a spiritual act of worship. It is a joyous response from us to the greatness of God and His blessings showered upon us. Yes, it’s counter to the general attitude of society, but we’re making a distinction between earthly understanding and heavenly understanding.

It’s the cheerful sacrifice we can make to His work, made easy in light of the sacrifice Jesus made for us upon the cross of Calvary.

It’s a process of laying up treasure in heaven where our hearts are, and of investing in His work on earth now. [ 2 Corinthians 9:7-8, Proverbs 3:9-10 ]
